1942 Tp\Ark

The bag in this example is dated 1943 and represents a later type example made of cloth rather than rubberised fabric seen on early war bags. Along side the date, the manufactures code: g d v is shown.

The cape is dated December 1942 and like the bag is very different to previous examples. It is made of a rubber like material. It is noticeably heavier and bulkier than the other capes. One side of the cape is green and the other is white. This would appear to match the markings which indicated that this cape is suitable for Tropical (Tp) or Arctic (Ark) environments.

Of interest is the coloured square shown in the last photo. It is believed that these were used to indicate where the cape should be held when being used.
