The photos show a 1939 Gas Cape along side its early rubberised bag. Unfortunately the markings on the bag are no longer legible.

This early cape is a lot thinner and lighter than later versions.

The paper label on the cape is lacks the information that is seen on later examples. The label displays C.P. 39 Thanks to the brilliant work by MP44.nl  this maker has been identified as “C.P. = Chepa-Orlik, Fabrik chemischer Papiere – Prag-Schmichov, Kartouzska 204 ”

I have seen other examples of this type of cape with the number C.P.40. Again thanks to MP44.nl , it seems that at some point in 1940 this maker started to use the code “cwl”
