This early example shows several characteristics that are not seen in later examples. It is thinner and lighter, the paper label displays only manufacturer and year of production and the coloured stripes that run along the edge.

Thanks to the work by MP44.nl  the maker has been identified as Chepa-Orlik, Fabrik chemischer Papiere – Prag-Schmichov, Kartouzska 204. Other examples of this type of cape with the markings C.P. 40 will also be encountered. It seems that at some point in 1940 this maker started to use the code cwl.
