I have created this site to improve knowledge of the World War Two German Gasplane.
The Gasplane had two official purposes; As a defence against liquid poison dropped out of aeroplanes and as a blanket to cover poisoned terrain.
Whilst the Gasplane pouch is often seen in period photographs of German soldiers, photographs of the Gasplane are rare. This makes it difficult to identify original wartime examples. Another challenge is that a large number of manufacturers were involved in making Gasplanen has resulted in a number of variations that have deviated from a “standard” example. The picture becomes even more fuzzy if you then add the variants made for arctic and tropical climates.
I would like to hear from you if you notice any problems with the site, corrections and absolutely anything related to the Gasplane; examples from your own collections, paperwork like soldbuch entries, period photos etc.
